D.A. Powell, poet, born in Albany, Georgia on May 15, 1963. Powell received his bachelors degree from Sonoma State University in 1991 and his masters from the same in 1993. He received a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Iowa in 1996. Powell has published several volumes of poetry, including Tea (1998), Lunch (2000), and Chronic (2010), for which he won the Kinsley Tufts Poetry Award. From the description of D.A.
